Season Activities:

  • Late Spring:
    • Select new lead mentors for team and for each sub-team
      • current lead mentor must invite replacement in FIRST
    • Hold elections for student leaders for next year
    • Plan meeting schedule for next year
      • try to avoid conflict with Band so students can participate in both
      • coordinate with faculty advisor and school administration (Principal, Tech Ed Team Lead)
      • consult HCPSS calendar: http://www.hcpss.org/calendar/
      • make custom robotics calendar: calendar creator: http://www.timeanddate.com
      • reserve practice spaces (Aux Gym, Cafeteria, etc.) with Athletics & Activities Manager
    • If holding summer meetings (e.g. at Hackground or STEMAction), move materials needed from storage to summer facility
  • Summer:
    • Develop summer agenda (e.g. robot enhancements for Fall off-season competitions, training, outreach)
    • Discuss access to Hackground with Prasad Karunakaran
    • Discuss access to STEMAction with Bill Duncan
    • Outreach events (should be coordinated by Ops Mentor/Students):
  • Fall:
    • New Student Orientation - recruiting new students (coordinate with Ops)
    • Robotics Team Orientation (team/club signups) - sign-up students (coordinate with Tech Boosters)
      • 2 separate meetings in cafeteria: new student signup, returning student signup
    • Back to School Night - recruiting new parent mentors: this is critical
    • Schedule Mentor YPP training
    • Register mentors in
    • Reconcile IT lists:
      • TeamSnap? - add mentors and students and get updated phone/text/email info
      • team2537.com - add mentors to appropriate groups
      • wiki accounts - add mentors and students to appropriate groups
      • google drive access
    • Add students to school's shop safety training/testing program in Canvas
