Field/Pit Lead and Deputy - Roles and Responsibilities

• Responsibilities: Construction of practice field, construction of other team infrastructure, construction/tear-down of pit, maintenance of pit during competition, expert on safety rules, enforces field & pit safety rules, enforces build-season shop safety rules
• Authority: final decision on practice field implementation, final decision on safety practices and enforcement, final decision on Pit layout, organization, occupancy
• Deputies:
  • Safety Captain
• Duties:
  • Study best field/pit practices of winning teams
  • Develop/document standard field/pit processes and resources
  • Fall:
    • Team infrastructure construction, (storage, organization)
    • Training: safety, shop skills
  • Fall/Build: enforce shop/practice safety
  • Build:
    • Rapid construction of training/practice field
    • Repair of practice field pieces
    • Pit design, stocking
    • Work with Operations on pit-bling/marketing
  • Competition:
    • Pit setup, tear-down, organization, supervision
    • Manage field and pit safety compliance
